Nuro is a personal knowledge management application designed to help users save, organize, search, and interact with information from websites, videos, notes, documents, and voice recordings.
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information Nuro processes, how it is used, and when it may be shared with third-party services.

Information Stored On Your Device
Nuro is designed with a local-first architecture. The following information is stored locally on your device:
- Saved memories
- Notes
- Website summaries
- Video summaries
- Tags
- Connected memories
- Search indexes
- Embeddings
- Local AI model data
- Application settings
This information remains on your device unless explicitly processed through a cloud enhancement service.
AI Processing
Nuro primarily uses on-device AI models to process and retrieve information. Most application features operate locally without sending personal content to external servers.

Cloud Processing
Certain optional enhancement features may use third-party AI providers, such as NVIDIA or Google Gemini.
If you explicitly opt in to Cloud Processing for personal memories, Nuro may send your private notes, memories, and locally created content to these third-party AI providers to generate enhanced insights, tasks, or summaries.
If you do not opt in, cloud processing is strictly limited to publicly available content such as public websites, public videos, and public articles.
If Cloud Processing for personal memories is not enabled, personal notes, private memories, locally created content, and personal knowledge data are not intentionally transmitted for cloud enhancement.
Data Anonymization & PII Cleaning
Before any personal data is transmitted to an optional third-party cloud service, Nuro attempts to identify and scrub Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to protect your privacy.
- Scanning content for sensitive patterns, such as phone numbers, emails, and social security numbers
- Redacting or anonymizing these details locally before transmission
While Nuro implements these automated cleaning measures, no automated system is 100% foolproof, and highly sensitive information should ideally remain processed entirely by on-device AI.
Third-Party AI Services
When cloud enhancement is enabled and configured by the user, Nuro may send data to third-party AI services for processing.
If Cloud Processing for personal data is enabled, this may include private memories and notes. Otherwise, it is limited to public webpage text, public video transcripts, public video metadata, and publicly visible content extracted from websites or videos.
Users who provide their own API credentials are responsible for their use of these services and are subject to the respective provider's terms and privacy policies.
API Keys
If you choose to use cloud enhancement services, you may provide your own API credentials. API keys are stored locally on your device and are used solely to authenticate requests made on your behalf.
Nuro does not collect, sell, or share your API credentials.

Data Retention
Data stored by Nuro remains on your device until you delete a memory, clear application data, or uninstall the application. Users maintain full control over their stored memories.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information stored by the application. However, no software system can guarantee absolute security.
Users are responsible for protecting access to their devices and accounts.
Children's Privacy
Nuro is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes To This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document.
Continued use of Nuro after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
